Position Summary
Provides residents with routine daily care and services in accordance with each resident’s care plan to best support their overall success and well-being.
Essential Functions
- Assist and document residents in all activities of daily living as needed for each individual resident assigned, e.g., vital signs, weight, feeding, bathing, grooming, toileting and mobility.
- Answer resident “call lights” promptly and courteously.
- Perform light housekeeping duties in residents’ rooms, e.g. make beds, clean spills, and help tidy areas while securing residents’ personal items as needed.
- Safely lift and transfer residents using proper lift equipment and safety devices.
- Report all changes in resident’s condition to the charge nurse as soon as possible.
- Render nursing assistance to residents within an assigned unit under the supervision of the RN or LPN.

Education/Training

Experience

Summary
Has administrative authority and responsibility for the development and maintenance of nursing service objectives, standards of nursing practice, nursing policy and procedure, and written job descriptions for each level of nursing personnel. Coordinates nursing services, with other resident services, and for recommending the number and levels of nursing personnel to be employed and staff development. Assists in the operations and administration of the organization. Works closely with management, medical director, and legal counsel. Pay Range - $ 83,200.00 minimum to $93,600.00 maximum annually.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Directly responsible for all nursing staff of the organization assigned to them.
Is willing to be on call when out of the facility to answer staff nurse resident questions and /or authorize emergency treatment.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following: (Does not include all tasks employee may be expected to perform.)
- May carry out duties of Administrator in his/her absence.
- Assures compliance with State and Federal Nursing Home Regulations as they apply to provision of nursing
- Maintain all educational requirements for the State of Michigan to keep license current.
- Maintain resident confidentiality; treat residents with kindness, dignity and respect; know and comply with all Resident’s Rights rules;
- Executes Resident Care Policies
- Supervise the scheduling of Resident Care Conferences to initiate and maintain resident care planning and communication with all levels of nursing personnel and other professional disciplines involved in resident care.
- Attends care planning meetings to evaluate compliance with regulations.
- Serve as Resident Services Coordinator:
- Assure that resident needs are met through utilization of appropriate staff and community resources.
- Oversee residents’ overall plans of care and ensure coordination of all services through staff conferences.
- Supervise the level of care determinations to assure that residents are assigned the level of care according to their nursing care requirements.
- Responsible to perform the following duties or delegate a License Nurse to oversee and maintain timely assessments and/or documentation requirements related to the following programs

- Responsible to review all resident incident and accident reports and delegate follow up care
- Responsible for the control of the narcotic record.
- Participate in the resident admission process by making admission recommendations based on resident needs, staffing levels, staff qualifications, equipment availability, and provisions of the Resident Care Policies.
STAFFING:
- Recommend number and levels of nursing personnel to be employed.
- Screen, select and insure provision of orientation, of a continuing staff development and in service program for nursing personnel.
- Supervise an organized program of employee evaluation and competency including administration of praise and/or discipline and terminate employees as necessary.
- Schedule staff per approved staffing pattern.
- May work as floor nurse to sublimate staffing.
COMMITTEES:
- Oversees and is a member of QA committee and Infection Control, Pharmacy, Behavior management committees and other committees as necessary.
- Responsible to report status of programs on a weekly basis verbally and/or in writing to the Administrator.
- Coordinates consultants and community agencies to supplement nursing services.
- Prepares and delegates Quality Assurance studies. Responsible for following up with all recommendations affecting the nursing department.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Works in an environment with noise, frequent interruptions, and may include exposure to unpleasant odors, odorous wounds, urine, feces, other excrements, cleaning product chemicals and disinfectants.
- Position requires standing, walking, lifting, bending and sitting.
- Prescribed dress will be according to Organizations dress code.
- Potentially dangerous equipment is utilized/maintained.

- Awareness of total resident care-physical, emotional and social.
- Ability to assess resident, plan and review care of the resident.
- Working knowledge of developing nursing policy and procedures.

- Required training and experience include a Bachelors or Associates Degree or Diploma from a State Approved School of Nursing.
- Must also possess a valid Michigan Registered Nursing License.
- Must also be CPR Certified.
- Must be supportive, cooperative and enthusiastic about facility policies and goal.
- Must be cognizant of responsibilities of responsibilities of a team approach to completion of projects and ability to work with Department Supervisors and Administration.
